WHO ARE WE

Let us introduce ourselves..

We are two families who have known each other for more than twenty years. One family lives in Nuweiba City and the other family lives in Amsterdam. The trips are organized by Eid Abu Ali, Daniel Eeuwens and Debra Hempel.

The latter are both entrepreneurs since the beginning of the 1990s and based in Amsterdam where they operate and live with their two young children.

Eid Abu Ali and Shyra Abud Ali live with their four children in the city of Nuweiba. Eid Ali and his family are very respected members of the Muzeina Bedouin tribe and have a very good reputation as experienced desert guides in the Sinai desert.

Besides Eid’s work as a guide, the family runs a small restaurant in the town of Hadia near Nuweiba, which is called al-S’adah, where they give small atmospheric parties and dinners. His two eldest children Ahmed & Halla participate in Live the bedouinlife and have shaped the company together with us.

In addition to traveling on the desert, we work together on the live the bedouin camp on a beautiful stretch of beach on the Nuweiba coast. Where we create a free space where everyone feels at home and welcome.

MOTIVATION

After almost 25 years of travel experience in the Sinai desert and a long-standing friendship with Eid Abu Ali and his family, we learned a lot about the habits and traditions that the Bedouin tribe have respected for hundreds of years.

It is a population group that is known as one of the oldest tribes in our world. The followers of Jesus, as the Bible tells the story, would be of Bedouin origin.

A worthy, proud, independent and friendly people. A people who were briefly unfamiliar with trading with money and were able to provide each other completely independently by only exchanging barter with each other. Their desire to travel ensured that they had enough of a tent and a few blankets. Food and drink were sufficiently available through barter trade to meet their needs

Nowadays, the Sinai region is developed by the government of Egypt without taking into account the needs of the Bedouin. This makes their way of life a lot harder.

We sincerely hope that the traditions and customs of the Bedouin can be maintained and that they can continue their independence and way of life.
