Active Men’s Journey in the Sinai Desert

Accompanied by experienced Bedouins, we trek for 6 days by camel or on foot through the breathtaking Sinai desert. Our tour consists of challenging walks and climbs, where we experience the rugged beauty of the desert up close. It is a journey for the adventurous soul looking for physical challenge, silence and fraternization.

Every evening we make camp in a new place and gather around the fire. A place to go into depth and laugh, tell stories and be vulnerable. Together we provide a safe space where everyone’s needs are known and everything is allowed. And when night falls, everyone finds their own place to sleep under the starry sky.  We are woken up by the sun and continue after a delicious breakfast. We travel partly in silence to experience the medicine of the mighty desert in its fullness.

After breakfast on the sixth day we depart by jeep back to the coast of Nuweiba, where our journey ends at the beautiful LiveTheBedouin Camp, right on the Gulf of Aqaba. Here you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the sea. The next morning we return home full of energy and inspiration.

There are two Dutch guides on this trip to guide the group together with the Bedouins.

Daan is the initiator of the trip. He has previously co-guided an unforgettable men’s journey and was called again through the desert. To sink completely into it, away from all the noise, in the silence and simplicity. To be in motion together with brothers, to have fun and to seek depth.

Daniel, as a Sinai veteran, is the silent force we can lean on, as co-founder of Live the Bedouin Life with more than 20 years of knowledge of the desert and its inhabitants, he is the perfect guide to give you an unforgettable journey.

With about 10 hours of sunshine per day and a very small chance of precipitation, the weather forecast for February is warm, with sometimes a fresh wind.

The time difference with Egypt and Sinai is 1 hour later (during winter time there is a time difference).

Vaccinations

Egypt and Sinai do not require vaccinations.

Our travel policy

Tourism is the largest industry in the world, with enormous potential for economic growth and employment. Unfortunately, tourism also causes negative effects on nature and local cultures. We try to look for sustainable alternatives to limit the negative effects of tourism and enhance the positive effects. Livethebedouinlife attaches great importance to dealing responsibly with culture, nature and the environment. We adhere to cultural codes as much as possible and expect the same from our travelers. It is -if applicable- easy to forget that we sometimes travel through very poor areas.

Because we travel by camel, a pair of long trousers are useful to take with us. A sweater, cardigan for the evenings, and lighter clothing for the day. If you get cold quickly, bring a pair of warm socks. During some parts of the journey you will have to guide your camel over the mountains on foot, so shoes/sturdy sandals/slippers that are comfortable to walk in are essential for this journey.

We have a sleeping bag for everyone, but for extra comfort, warmth and hygiene, your elf should also bring a sleeping bag.

Don’t forget something for the head, a cloth, hat or cap! It is important to protect yourself well while riding through the desert on your camel and from the sun in general. So don’t forget your sunscreen! A toothbrush, a washcloth and a greasy cream or oil is also nice to have with you in the desert.

Because we travel by camel and it will also carry your luggage, it is best to choose a flexible backpack, sports bag or soft suitcase.
