Women’s Desert Journey
For women who want to slow down, sink in, and be together.
Guided by experienced Bedouins, we travel for 6 days by camel or on foot through the breathtaking Sinai Desert. Alongside the Bedouins, three Dutch guides join the journey.
During this desert trip, you live in the rhythm of nature, experience Bedouin life, and are surrounded by the vast landscape and deep silence that this place offers. Here, the noise of daily life fades away.
The Bedouins welcome you into their world and share their knowledge of life in the desert.
In the stunning expanse of the Sinai Desert, you are invited to connect with the power of your breath — a natural key to deep relaxation, clarity, and transformation. In this place where silence and simplicity come together, you return to your essence.
Your breath tells you how you live. Many people breathe unconsciously, which can lead to tension, fatigue, and a sense of disconnection.
You are invited to join embroidery sessions — not for perfection or technique, but for connection with yourself, your feelings, and the present moment. We work with simple stitches and recycled fabrics, letting intuition lead the way. You embroider what lives within you: a feeling, a dream, an impression of the desert. No experience is needed — only an open heart and a willingness to pause and feel what moves inside you.
This journey teaches you more than breathing or embroidery. It teaches you to slow down in a world that’s constantly moving at full speed. With needle and thread in hand, in the raw stillness of the Sinai, you create — not to make something perfect, but to truly feel.
In Bedouin communities, women have long gathered to embroider. These gatherings were intimate spaces for sharing, laughter, mourning, healing, and storytelling. There was silence, laughter, singing — and above all: listening.
Simplicity and spaciousness are at the heart of this journey. We travel and eat together, yet there’s always space for you to be alone — to read, walk, or simply reflect. This is your time to slow down and return to the essentials of life, with the opportunity to connect with your deeper self.
Whether you already feel connected to your inner voice, are seeking clarity, or simply need rest and space, this journey offers the time, guidance, and environment to dive deeper into yourself.
Before the trip, we connect to explore your intentions and needs for the journey. Throughout the trip, we regularly check in — individually and as a group — to support your process.
This desert journey is a chance to live closely with a small group in nature, under the moonlit sky, cared for by the Bedouins.
What to Expect
Over six days, we travel by foot and camel through the vast desert, covering 12–17 km daily. You will be guided by experienced Bedouins and three Dutch-speaking guides: Linda Lugtenborg Baaddi, Bell Poort, and Debra Hempel.
* About Linda Lugtenborg Baaddi – She guides personal transformation with techniques such as breathwork and meditation, always attuning to your unique needs and intentions. She invites you to start each day with a guided breath session.
* Bell Blazinbell – The creative force behind Blazinbell, she works in her raw, honest, boro-inspired style, using worn fabrics, frayed edges, and visible stitches. Everything is allowed.
* Debra Hempel – Initiator of Live the Bedouin Life, she shares her deep passion for the desert and the Bedouin tribes, creating a truly magical experience.
Day-by-Day
* Day 1 – Arrival in the Sinai at the starting point of our desert journey. You are welcomed at a camp in the heart of the desert by the Bedouins, served tea, and share your first dinner around the fire.
* Day 2–5 – Deeper into the desert. We travel 12–17 km each day, partly in silence. Mornings begin with breathwork, afternoons are for rest or embroidery, and evenings end around the campfire.
* Day 6–7 – On the sixth day, we return by jeep to the coast of Nuweiba, where our journey ends at the beautiful Live the Bedouin Life beach camp, right on the Gulf of Aqaba. Here you can relax, enjoy the stunning sea views, snorkel, and reflect on your desert adventures.

Our travel policy
Tourism is the largest industry in the world, with enormous potential for economic growth and employment. Unfortunately, tourism also causes negative effects on nature and local cultures. We try to look for sustainable alternatives to limit the negative effects of tourism and enhance the positive effects. Livethebedouinlife attaches great importance to dealing responsibly with culture, nature and the environment. We adhere to cultural codes as much as possible and expect the same from our travelers. It is -if applicable- easy to forget that we sometimes travel through very poor areas.
