A Journey into Silence and Connection in the Sinai Desert
Michelle (Mahara) invites you on a special journey – an experience that brings you back to the essence of your true nature.
Together with experienced Bedouins, we travel for six days by camel or on foot through the breathtaking Sinai Desert. Along the way, we hike and climb through the rugged beauty of the landscape and immerse ourselves in the authentic Bedouin way of life.
In this vast and silent environment, nature helps you slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect – with yourself and with life. You’ll sleep under a sky full of stars, feel the warm sand beneath your feet, and surrender to the simplicity of the moment. The desert offers space – both literally and figuratively – to step away from daily life and return to what truly matters.
What to Expect
This journey is about silence, simplicity, and connection. Life in the desert is basic – and that’s exactly what makes it so special.
There is space for introspection and rest: time to be alone, to read, or to wander.
We start and end each day with shared moments – a sunrise meditation or an evening around the fire with acoustic music.
We regularly check in with each other. Whether you’re seeking rest, clarity, or simply the joy of being in the present moment, this journey gives you all the space you need.
Journey Schedule
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival in the Sinai, you will be warmly welcomed by the Bedouins and our guides. The camp will be ready and waiting, giving you time to settle in and ground yourself.
We’ll get to know each other and end the day with a warm meal and tea around the campfire beneath the stars.
Days 2–5: Desert Trek
Each day, we walk about 10 to 15 kilometers through the desert landscape. Our days follow a natural rhythm:
Morning: We rise early with the sunrise, followed by a breakfast of freshly baked bread, coffee, and tea.
Day trek: Most of the walk is in silence, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the surroundings and quiet your mind.
Afternoon: After lunch, there’s a short rest before we continue with a second walk.
Evening: The day ends with a shared meal and time around the campfire – to tell stories, play music, or simply sit together in silence.
Day 6: Arrival at the Coast
After our final breakfast, we head toward the coast. We close our journey at the beach in Nuweiba, at LiveTheBedouinLife, where we enjoy the sea, peace, and comfort. A gentle landing and preparation for your return home.
The desert invites you to let go and recharge. It’s a place to leave the noise of daily life behind and reconnect with what truly matters.
Discover the power of simplicity, nature, and connection during this unique desert journey, guided by Michelle van Coevorden – Mahara.

Vaccinations
No vaccinations are required for travel to Egypt or the Sinai region.
Our Travel Ethos
Tourism is the largest industry in the world, offering enormous potential for economic growth and employment. However, it can also have negative impacts on nature and local cultures.
We strive to find sustainable alternatives that minimize the negative effects of tourism and strengthen its positive contributions.
LiveTheBedouinLife places great importance on responsible interaction with local culture, nature, and the environment. We respect local customs and cultural codes and ask the same of our travelers.
It’s important to be mindful that we may travel through very poor areas – something that can easily be forgotten when immersed in such a unique experience.

For this journey, we recommend flying with Transavia.
Flights can be booked via:
