This journey is for people who want to cross the Sinai together and experience what it is like to live for a week in the rhythm of the desert.

Guided by the Muzeina Tribe and two Dutch- and English-speaking guides, we travel for six days on foot and with camels through the breathtaking Sinai Desert.

During this journey, you live in the rhythm of nature, experience Bedouin life up close and are surrounded by the space, silence and simplicity that make this place so special. Here, the noise of everyday life naturally begins to fade away.

The Sinai Desert does something that is difficult to explain. It is not only your mind that becomes quieter; your body, too, seems to readjust to a more natural rhythm. Without schedules, screens or constant stimulation, space naturally begins to appear. For many people, it feels as if their nervous system can finally relax.

A Week as Guests of the Muzeina Tribe

For generations, the Muzeina Tribe has called the Sinai Desert home. The Bedouins know its valleys, mountain passes and hidden places like no one else. During this journey, you are not simply an observer. For one week, you travel alongside them.

Every morning, the camels are packed. Tea is made, breakfast is prepared and the camp is taken down. Then we continue, step by step, through a landscape that changes every day. Wide sandy plains, narrow canyons, granite mountains and hidden valleys alternate along the way. Each participant travels with their own camel.

Along the way, the Bedouins take care of everything. They prepare our meals over an open fire, set up camp every evening and pour every cup of tea with the same natural care they have shown one another for generations.

Their hospitality is found in the small things. A cup of tea already waiting for you. A meal prepared with care. The natural way in which you are looked after.

Slowly, you begin to follow their rhythm. You walk. You relax. You eat together. You sleep beneath the stars.

And without anyone asking anything of you, life naturally becomes simpler.

That is the power of the desert.

In Sinai, nature has not been designed, controlled or shaped. It is exactly as it has always been. Untouched, pure and completely itself.

Everyone arrives in the desert differently.

Some feel at home from the very first step. Others need a little more time to let go of the busyness of home.

Some people need someone who brings a little lightness. Someone who makes that first connection easier, helps conversations begin and softens those first steps, until the silence and rhythm of the desert can do their own work.

That is why we invite other guides to join us.

The Muzeina Tribe carries the wisdom and rhythm of the desert. Our guides help people find their own way within it.

During This Journey

On this journey, Bell Poort will be travelling with us.
Bell is the founder of Blazinbell and the creative heart behind Eye of the Needle. What makes her special is her calm presence. She creates a space in which people can easily be themselves.
During the warmest hours of the day, when we rest in the shade, Bell brings her needle and thread. Anyone who feels like joining is welcome.

Nothing is required.
Sometimes we embroider.
Sometimes conversations unfold.
And sometimes nothing happens at all.
That, too, is part of the desert.

Bell brings calm and attention. She helps people give shape to what they feel, without needing to put it into words.

The Journey

We travel for six days on foot and with camels through the Sinai Desert. Each participant travels with their own camel. We walk an average of ten to seventeen kilometres a day, at a relaxed pace that leaves space to truly be present.

Around midday, we find shade for lunch and rest. Towards evening, the Bedouins set up camp. As the fire burns and dinner is prepared, the sun slowly disappears behind the mountains.

After dinner, we often sit around the fire for a while.

Then everything becomes quiet.

And above us appears a sky full of stars that you will not easily forget.

For many people, it is these simple moments that become the memories that stay with them the longest.

Day 1
We meet in Sinai, where the Bedouins welcome us with tea and a shared meal. We get to know one another and spend our first night beneath the stars.

Days 2 to 6
Each day, we continue through a new landscape. We walk, rest, eat together and follow the rhythm of the desert.

Days 6 & 7
After our final breakfast in the desert, we travel towards the coast. We reach the beach in Nuweiba and enjoy a well-deserved moment of rest beside the Gulf of Aqaba. Here, you can relax, swim, snorkel or simply look out over the sea and reflect on everything the past few days have brought.

Practical Information

Included

Six days travelling with the Muzeina Tribe

Your own camel during the journey

All meals in the desert

Water, tea and snacks

Overnight stays in the desert

One overnight stay by the Red Sea

Luggage transport

Jeep transport where needed

Creative moments with Bell Poort

Desert bed

Not Included

Flights

Travel and cancellation insurance

Personal expenses

Tips for the Bedouin team

If you would like to extend your stay after the desert journey, you will receive a discount on accommodation with Live the Bedouin Life on the beach in Nuweiba.

Before Departure

A few weeks before departure, we will meet online via Zoom. At the same time, tourism can have a negative impact on nature and local cultures.

At Live the Bedouin Life, we try to travel differently.

We look for sustainable ways to minimise the negative effects of tourism while strengthening its positive impact. We care deeply about respecting the local culture, nature and environment.

We follow local cultural customs as much as possible and ask our travellers to do the same.

While travelling, it can sometimes be easy to forget that we are guests in places where people may live with far fewer financial resources than we are used to. We believe that travelling with awareness, respect and an open mind is an important part of the journey.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Flight information” tab_id=”1588776454450-eda27a0c-f3aefbfd-c565b510-c4adc736-abaaca93-6798″][vc_column_text]For this trip, we recommend flying with Transavia.

Flights can be booked via:

Transavia.com: Flies from Amsterdam Schiphol to Sharm el Sheikh from November until the end of March.

TUI: Flies directly between Rotterdam Airport and Sharm el Sheikh for several months of the year.
